LAKE ANN - Kristi Rae Flory, owner of Sweet Meadow Farm Gardens in Lake Ann, died on May 14, 2013, in her home within the loving embrace of her family. She was 59 years old.
Kristi was born on July 6, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio to parents Roger and Marilyn Flory. Michigan has been her home for nearly 40 years.
Kristi took great pleasure in nurturing others. She set a splendid table to nourish the body, and with her lovely flowering landscapes and generous spirit she nourished the soul. She cherished her family and church community and tended to all with compassion and a joyful heart.
Kristi is survived by two brothers, Dan (Mary Jo) Flory of Traverse City and Ken (Fran) Flory of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Judy (Larry) Dunn of San Jose, Calif.; three aunts, Elaine Stauffer of Ohio, Ramona Cann of Maryland, and Doris Welles of Florida; eight nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special caregiver, LynAnne Mathews.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held on Kristi’s beloved farm in her gardens, but a memorial service for friends and members of the community will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Lake Ann United Methodist Church in the village. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kristi’s memory may be made to Lake Ann United Methodist Church.
