TRAVERSE CITY — Nancy Janet DuBois, 83, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at her home in Traverse City. She had been a part time resident of Traverse City since 1963 and moved here permanently in 1979.
Nancy was born on Sunday, July 1, 1928, to the late Edward and Margaret (Sutherland) Wiggin in Detroit.
She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and then earned her teaching degree at Eastern Michigan University.
Nancy taught deaf children at Farmington Public Schools prior to her retirement.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, the Association for Education for Exceptional Children and enjoyed working at the Christian Community Center Daycare.
She loved sewing, reading, traveling and needlework.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Garry) Boyer, of Traverse City, and Katie (Gregory) Lestan, of Killdeer, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Sandra DuBois, of Maple City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; sons, Bruce and Thomas; brother, Edward Wiggin; and sister-in-law, Grace Wiggin.
The memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at First Congregational Church. The Rev. Gary Hogue will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of Remembrance at First Congregational Church.
