TRAVERSE CITY — Sharon Ione Wilhelm, 78, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
Sharon was born on June 3, 1934, in Minot, N.D., to the late Fred and Edna (Chamberland) Marcoe. She married James Wilhelm in 1952; they later divorced but remained friends.
Sharon and Jim proudly owned the Torch Crest Grocery Store. After they sold the store Sharon went on to run three different elderly care homes in Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
She loved to crochet and knit and made beautiful afghans. Cooking also brought great pleasure to Sharon.
Sharon will be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Sharon are her children, Robert Wilhelm and Kim Waller; grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Waller, Chad Waller and Emma Rose Wilhelm; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Peyton Waller; and many other loving family members and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Barney, Glenn, Robert, Louella and Kathleen.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 2 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
