Nicholas R. 'Ron' Miron

OMENA — Ron Miron, 73, of Omena, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 3, 2011, after a brief illness.

Ron was born July 24, 1937, in Detroit, to the late Joseph H. Miron and Sophie E. (Engel) Miron. Ron was married to Marla J. Miron on March 21, 1987; they just celebrated 24 years together.

In his early years, he had a service station with his brother-in-law, Alfred Jean from 1957 to 1959. Ron worked for Dunham's Sporting Goods from 1960 to 1965. From Dunham's he transferred to Kmart Enterprises for 32 years until he retired in 1992. He was a Senior Buyer for fishing tackle.

He loved to fish with his father and his mother on Skegemog Lake.

Ron traveled with his job as Kmart buyer to the Orient, including Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and Taiwan.

Ron loved his home and property in Omena. He was outside every day, rain, sleet or snow. He fed the birds, including all kinds of woodpeckers; his favorite was the Pileated Woodpecker (three of them).

Ron and his first wife, Mary (Jean) Miron, have a lovely daughter, Mary. Ron and Mary built a home in Farmington Hills in 1957, the year they married. Ron's first wife died of juvenile diabetes (type 1) at the age of 45. He lived in Farmington Hills until he moved up north to Omena in 1995.

Surviving are his wife, Marla; his daughter, Mary and son-in-law, Dany Barish; along with two grandchildren, Natali and Gabe. He also leaves behind his loyal companions, Ernie (golden retriever) and Daisy (cat).
