Gerald F. Forsman

EVART -- Gerald F. "Jerry" Forsman, 49, of Evart, formerly of Traverse City, died Monday evening, Nov. 2, 2009, at Hopkins Adult Foster Care Home in Evart, following a long illness. Born Aug. 25, 1960, in Wyandotte, he was the son of Robert H. and Marion M. (Shoemaker) Forsman.

Jerry was very proud and honored to be called "Uncle" by his many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, winning many medals as a swimmer. Jerry also received great pleasure in snowmobiling, boating, three-wheeling and caring for his pet Irish Setter, Kelly. He had a great appetite for shrimp.

Jerry truly felt home while under the loving care of the Hopkins Adult Foster Care.

He is survived by his family; mother, Marion M. Forsman of Traverse City; siblings, Vicki (Tim) Kehl of Northport, Robert F. (Sandy) Forsman of Traverse City and Mary Ann (Roger) Wilsey of Kingsley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Forsman.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Becky Chamberlain will officiate. Burial will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
