North Stars reloading for 2011-12

Seven players age out, but team hopes to keep a lot

TRAVERSE CITY — The future sure looks bright for the Traverse City North Stars.

The team could have a bevy of high-caliber players stay with the team next season, giving the franchise a boon of top talent to build around.

After a strong run to a 40-17-1 regular-season mark and a second-place finish in the largest and most competitive division in the 26-team North American Hockey League, the Stars departed in the first round of the playoffs with a 3-1 series loss to Michigan.

To have fared so well in such a tough division with a fairly young squad bodes well, North Stars head coach and general manager Anthony Palumbo said.
