Laslo leads TC North Stars to win

Goalie stops 33 shots as Stars beat Port Huron

PORT HURON — Kyle Laslo stopped all 33 shots he faced, leading the Traverse City North Stars to a 2-0 road blanking of Port Huron at McMorran Arena on Wednesday night.

Laslo turned aside 14 shots in the third period to record his second shutout and seventh victory of the season. Traverse City halted Port Huron’s six-game winning streak, and gained two points in the North standings to improve to 7-4-3.

Port Huron falls to 12-7-2.

Sean Murphy scored what would become the game-winner in his return to the North Stars, opening the scoring 3:01 into the second period. He played 40 games with the Stars last season after being acquired from Austin.

Mitchell Snider made it 2-0 almost halfway through the third frame, with fellow Traverse City native Jared Van Wormer on the assist.

The Fighting Falcons were scoreless on five power plays.

The Stars travel to Flint on Friday for a one-game tilt with the Michigan Warriors before returning to Port Huron next week for another Wednesday date with the Fighting Falcons on Nov. 16. TC will return to Centre ICE Arena for a Nov. 18-19 two-game series with Port Huron that kicks off seven straight home contests.
