Stars get road win

FLINT — The Traverse City North Stars made it two roads wins in three days Friday night with a 5-1 North American Hockey League victory over Michigan.

The Stars, 8-4-3, beat Port Huron 2-0 on Wednesday.

Will Badner staked Traverse City to a 1-0 lead in the first period, scoring on a power play. Alexander Taulien assisted.

The North Stars broke it open with three goals in the second period. Chris Leibinger, Jake Peacock and Sean Murphy netted the goals. Zach Dorer, who signed with Ferris State this week, assisted on two of those goals. Kyle Schempp and Chris Waterstreet also drew assists.

Taulien tallied the North Stars last goal, midway through the third period off assists from Badner and Robert Wiener.

Kyle Laslo had another stellar night in goal, turning aside 37 of 38 shots.
