FROM STAFF REPORTS
PORT HURON — Port Huron scored the first three and last two goals of the game as the Fighting Falcons topped the Traverse City North Stars 6-2.
The Falcons went up 3-0 with first-period goals by Nick Sierra, Ryan Nick and Mike Moroso.
TC's Seth Adams countered with an unassisted goal 9:20 into the second period and Jake Peacock added another sandwiched around a Port Huron (6-3-2) score by Alex Archibald. Alexander Taulien and Michal Toman set up Peacock's goal.
Max Reavis and Logan Lemirande added short-handed goals in the third period.
Zach Nagelvoort stopped 32 shots in his Traverse City debut -- and the first time this season Kyle Laslo hasn't started in net for TC. Peter Megariotis -- who was ejected the last time the Falcons and Stars tangled -- had 28 saves.
Nagelvoort was acquired in a trade over the weekend from Kalamazoo, where he was 2-1-0 with a 2.68 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. TC also released backup goalie Michael Parda and forwards Josh Nardella and John Chinchen.
The North Stars (5-2-2) will return to Centre ICE Arena on Saturday for a one-game set, as the division-leading Michigan Warriors (7-2-1) visit for a 7 p.m. face-off.
