North Stars blank Jamestown

Van Wormer, Laslo, Snider key victory

TRAVERSE CITY — Jared Van Wormer and Mitchell Snider each had a goal and an assist Friday night to spark the Traverse City North Stars to a 3-0 North American Hockey League win over Jamestown at Centre ICE.

The North Stars scored a goal in each period.

Van Wormer started it off with a goal in the first period off assists from Kyle Schempp and Snider.

Michal Toman made it 2-0 in the second period. Chris Waterstreet and Sean Murphy assisted.

Snider closed it out in the third period, scoring off a Van Wormer assist.

Van Wormer was selected as the game's No. 1 star. Goalie Kyle Laslo, who turned away 24 shots, was the No. 2 star, Snider was No. 3.

The North Stars, third in the North Division, improved to 33-20-6. They are 18-8-2 at home.

The Ironmen fell to 19-34-5.

The two teams play again tonight at 7:05 and then face-off in a 1:05 matinee Sunday in the regular season finale.
