North Stars fall to Chicago

Stars have 4 games remaining to make up six-point deficit

CHICAGO — It wasn't a good day to be an above-.500 North Division team.

Traverse City failed to gain ground on Port Huron and Kalamazoo as all three of the top teams lost in the same evening. The Stars lost 4-3 to Chicago.

The Stars managed to keep pace with Kalamazoo — which lost 4-0 to Michigan — in the race for the division's second playoff spot. TC trails the K-Wings by six points with four regular-season games remaining.

Traverse City led 2-0 on goals by Conor Durgan and Chris Waterstreet before the Hitmen scored four straight in the second and third periods.

Will Badner's goal with one tick left made it a one-goal game.

Kyle Laslo made 32 saves in goal for TC.
