TRAVERSE CITY — Zak Thompson's score in the seventh round of shooting lifted Michigan to a 4-3 shotoout victory over Traverse City.
Traverse City led 2-0, but the Warriors knotted it up on Robert Mantha's goal with 6:46 left in regulation and played a scoreless overtime session.
Traverse City's Jon Farkas and Kyle Froese matched shootout scores by Michigan's A.J. White and James Kline in the first five shooters to sent the session into another two rounds.
Traverse City (5-2-3) went up 2-0 on goals by Zack Dorer and Chris Waterstreet, but the Warriors (9-2-1) pulled within one before the first intermission on an White tally.
Waterstreet struck again 7:40 into the second, but Michigan against answered, this time on a Kline score to remain a goal back.
Kyle Laslo made 23 saves for Traverse City.
