TRAVERSE CITY — It took a pair of shutouts by Alexandria goaltender Jacob Meyers to prevent Traverse City's Mitchell Snider — who was far from shut out — from being the North American Hockey League's top player of the week honoree.
Meyers was selected as the No. 1 star of the week, while Snider, who had eight points in two games, was No. 2.
Snider, 20, had a career weekend as he racked up three goals and five assists in a two-game home sweep of the Chicago Hitmen. He was also +7 during the weekend series.
On Friday night, the Traverse City West grad set a new career high with four points (one goal, three assists) in a 9-0 win over Chicago. The next night, Snider equaled his career high again with another four-point game (two goals, two assists), but this time recorded the game-winning goal as Traverse City beat Chicago, 6-1.
Snider's eight point weekend was a quarter of his 32 points this season.
