North Stars' goal: Clinch home ice

TRAVERSE CITY — While a lot of people are taking off for spring break, the Traverse City North Stars are hoping to punch their ticket to stay right here.

With a win in tonight's regular-season home finale, the Stars would clinch home-ice advantage for the first round of the North American Hockey League playoffs.

Traverse City's magic number is down to one, meaning the team only needs to get one of four points in this weekend's home-and-home series with Port Huron. Janesville and Michigan — currently tied for third in the North Division, one spot behind Traverse City — need to win their last three contests to have a chance to pass the North Stars for second.
