Alpena comes back for win over Stars

Alpena battled back from a 3-1 third period deficit Saturday night to beat the Traverse City North Stars 4-3 in a North American Hockey League shootout.

Eric McLintock netted two goals for the North Stars. His second put Traverse City ahead 3-1 about two minutes into the third period. But Alpena's Erik Peterson tallied two power-play goals to send the game into overtime.

Neither team scored in the overtime.

Each team had five attempts in the shootout, but Alpena's Sam Cheraso was the only player to score.

Kyle Bonis had goal in the second period for Traverse City, which lost both games to Alpena over the weekend in shootouts.

CJ Motte had 33 saves for the North Stars, Nick Graves 28 for Alpena.
