Jackets sting Stars in shootout

FROM STAFF REPORTS

WYANDOTTE -- Kyle Jean and Andy Huff each scored a third-period goal and helped set up the other's as the Traverse City North Stars came back from a two-goal deficit to force overtime in a 6-5 shootout loss to Motor City.

Patrick Sullivan, Billy Balent and MacAulay McDonnell were successful in the shootout to give the Metal Jackets (4-2-3) the win.

Josh Miller, Kellin Ainsworth and Chris Salomone had scored goals for the Stars earlier in the game, with assists going to Eric McLintock (two), Nilan Nagy and Trevor Campbell. Ainsworth and Dan Radke also drew helpers on the third-period goals.

Traverse City could have moved into first place with a shootout win.

Drew Strandburg made 36 saves for the Stars (7-3-1).

The North Stars return to action at home Friday against Janesville, when the team will play on pink ice and wear pink jerseys for breast cancer awareness.
