Stars Jean keys 5-4 win

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- Kyle Jean scored two goals in his first game of the season to lead the Traverse City North Stars to a 5-4 victory over Motor City on Friday.

Jean started off the game's scoring 4:33 into the first period off a Trevor Campbell assist, and put the Stars up 4-3 with five ticks left in the second.

Eric McLintock and Tim Opie also lit the lamp in the second period, and Andy Huff added the game-winner in the third off Nilan Nagy and Jean assists.

Travis White and Chris Salomone set up McLintock's score, while Josh Miller and White assisted on Opie's.

Tyler Marble made 36 saves for the Stars (7-3-0), who were outshot 40-35. Motor City falls to 3-2-2.

Jean missed the team's first nine games while recovering from an upper-body injury suffered in last year's playoff series against Mahoning Valley.

The two teams meet again tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Yack Arena.
