Stars fall 8-5 to Springfield

TC wraps up Showcase today

BLAINE, Minn. -- Springfield didn't have as many shots on goal as Traverse City, but the Jr. Blues sprung loose for eight goals in an 8-5 win over Traverse City.

Springfield's Jared Rickord notched a hat trick in the win.

Traverse City's goals came from Doug Clifford, Phil Wendecker, Kellin Ainsworth, Garrett Thompson and Sean Burke. Assists went to Chris Salomone, Thompson, Clifford, Eric McLintock, Wendecker and Eric Rivard.

Ainsworth's goal came on a penalty shot after Springfield's Nick Curry was whistled for hooking.

Tyler Marble made 15 saves for the Stars (4-2). The Blues are now 1-1-1.

The Stars play Bismarck in their final Showcase game today at 10:45 a.m. TC's home opener is on Sept. 28.
