North Stars get defensive in draft

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City North Stars used its five picks in Wednesday's North American Hockey League entry draft on defensemen.

Jared Beers from Honeybaked Midget-AAA was the first selection by the Stars.

Mitch Kriz of the Elliot Lake Bobcats Junior-A team went in the second round while Tyler Krueger of the Madison Capitols Midget-AAA was the third-round pick of the Stars.

Beers' teammate at Honeybaked, Mike Miller, went in the fourth round. TC closed out the draft by selecting Cody Walsh of the Chicago Young Americans Midget-AAA team.
