North Stars even series in overtime

FROM STAFF REPORTS

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Traverse City needed a win at Mahoning Valley this weekend to re-claim home ice advantage.

Nathan Urbaniak made it happen.

The North Stars center scored about a minute into the game Sunday and then lifted Traverse City to a 4-3 win with a goal 18 seconds into overtime.

With the victory, the North Stars and Phantoms are now tied at 1-1 in the best-of-five series. Game three will be in Traverse City Thursday at 7 p.m.

The North Stars led 3-0 in the second period Sunday after goals from Jarrod LaBelle and Marc Thompson. LaBelle's goal came short-handed and unassisted.

Travis White, Kyle Bonis, Christopher Heineman and Chris Salomone all had assists for Traverse City. Bonis added a second when he found Urbaniak for the game-winner.
