TRAVERSE CITY -- After the team posted its first-ever series win at Mahoning Valley, the Traverse City North Stars were well-represented in the league's weekly awards.
Captain Kyle Bonis was selected the North Division player of the week by the North American Hockey League, and C.J. Motte was tabbed as the league's goaltender of the week.
Bonis scored five goals in the three-game set against first-place Mahoning Valley. He notched two game-winning goals and now leads with NAHL with eight. He's second among all skaters with 29 goals on the season.
It's his third player of the week honor this season.
Motte continues a strong rookie season, collecting both wins this weekend while stopping 69 of 72 shots, including 40 Sunday. He owns the team record for wins in a season (18), and is on pace to own the best single-season save percentage (.917) and goals-against average (2.32). Motte, now a two-time winner of the award, is sixth in the league on goals-against average and eighth in both save percentage and victories.
