Northern Michigan's premier literary journal, Dunes Review, will celebrate the summer 2012 issue with a launch party and reading 7-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at Brilliant Books, 118 Front St.
Contributors Teresa Scollon, Jennifer Sperry Steinorth, Angela Williams, Sarah Bence, Patricia Clark, Steven Mathew Brown, Rob Astor and Kris Kunz, among others, will read from their work. The journal, in collaboration with Michigan Writers, highlights the literary culture of the state of Michigan and beyond with publishing opportunities for poets and writers at all stages of their careers.
Highlights of the current issue include a series of poem-letters addressed to St.-Exupery by Jamien Delp, an essay by Brit Washburn entitled 'The Edge: Of Motherhood and Poetics," and work from two of this year's Michigan Writers Cooperative Press chapbook winners, Jim Crockett and Michael Hughes. The issue also includes poems by several writers known for their literary translation, including William O. Daly's poem "Slow Burn."
