ELK RAPIDS — Ellen Airgood is the next author in the Elk Rapids District Library’s Writer’s Series.

Airgood is a waitress from the Upper Peninsula and the author of “South of Superior.” Her book was selected as the Michigan Notable Book for January 2012 and was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition.

“An Evening with Ellen Airgood” will start at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Elk Rapids Historical Museum, 301 Traverse St. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For details, visit www.elkrapidslibrary.org.

Notable Authors

TRAVERSE CITY — Todd and Brad Reed, authors of “Tuesdays with Todd and Brad Reed: A Michigan Tribute,” will visit the Traverse Area District Library’s Main Branch, 610 Woodmere Ave., on Thursday, May 8.

The father and son photography team devoted each Tuesday in 2012 to photographing various locations in Michigan.

A total of 1,014 images are featured in their 400-page book, which has been selected as one of 20 books deemed a Michigan Notable Book of 2014 by the Library of Michigan.

The Reeds will share stories, sign their book and answer questions starting at 6:30 p.m.

The program is free and open to the public.

Signings and readings

TRAVERSE CITY — Horizon Books, 243 E. Front St., will host book signings and a poetry reading on Saturday, May 10.

The following book signings will be held: noon-2 p.m. by Jeanette Hopkins, author of “The Juggler”; and 2-4 p.m. by Bruce Hopkins, author of “Truth in the Rivers.”

There also will be a poetry reading from 4-6 p.m. Francine Harris will read her full-length debut “Allegiance,” and Michael Delp will read from his collection titled “The Last Good Water.”

Mardi Link visits library
