Workshop examines drip irrigation
TRAVERSE CITY -- The public is invited to join the Sweetwater Evening Garden Club for a workshop on drip irrigation.
Brian Zimmerman will present the workshop at 7 p.m. July 15 at Four Seasons Nursery, 7557 Harrys Road.
The method of drip irrigation minimizes the use of water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip gradually to reach the roots of plants.

Annual garden walk adds flower show
Charlevoix -- The Charlevoix Area Garden Club is preparing for a standard flower show that will be held in conjunction with its 10th annual garden walk.
Both events will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16.
The flower show will feature three divisions: horticulture, design and special exhibits. It will be held at the Community Reformed Church on the corner of Meech Road and U.S. 31. Admission is free.
The garden walk will feature the Suttons and Reznick gardens on Pa Pe Shan Trail, the Peters garden on Raspberry Lane, the Guanci and Winn gardens on Belvedere Avenue and the Wertz gardens on Hurlbut. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the walk.
Advance tickets are available at Shop of the Gulls, Marvin's Gardens and Halfway to the Top, Charlevoix; Mary's of Boyne, Boyne City; and the EJ Shoppe, East Jordan. Tickets also will be available at the flower show on the day of the gardenwalk.
