TC Wolves rout Grizzlies, 37-3
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Wolves evened their Great Midwest Football League record at 1-1 with a 37-3 win over the Michigan Grizzlies on Saturday night.
The Wolves led 16-0 at half. It was 30-3 after three quarters.

Carruth wins Mannino Scholarship
TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West's Alec Carruth is this year's recipient of the David Mannino College Scholarship that's associated with the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League Prep Hockey Showcase.
The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student-athlete who participated in the 2013 Showcase and met all of the selection criteria.
Carruth, a 3.70 GPA student at Traverse City West High School, plans to attend Michigan State University and pursue a degree in computer engineering. Carruth volunteered on two community service missions (one to New York and one to Canada) and also volunteered his time to the Grand Traverse Hockey Association. He was nominated for the award by Traverse City West head coach Jeremy Rintala.
The David Mannino Scholarship is awarded annually to a student-athlete with great moral character. The scholarship is privately funded and does receive any proceeds from the MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase.
Blue Stars sweep, improve to 15-0
TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Blue Stars improved to 15-0 with three victories over the weekend at the Civic Center.
On Saturday, the Blue Stars swept a doubleheader with the Sault (Ont.) Black Sox. The Blue Stars won the first game 11-1 behind the pitching of Casey Peterson. Traverse City won the second game 11-3 as Lars MacArthur picked up the win on the mound. Carson Rosa homered for the Blue Stars.
The Blue Stars came away with a 16-6 victory over Alpena on Sunday afternoon. Joe Muzljakovich was the winning pitcher. Ryan Lints doubled and homered to lead the offense for the Blue Stars.
Basketball Showcase June 23 at TC West
TRAVERSE CITY — The Michigan Prep Basketball Showcase will be held on Sunday, June 23, at Traverse City West High School.
The event will give high school student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches from Divisions II and III, and NAIA schools. The Showcase features drill work and testing, competitive 5-on-5 games with sanctioned referees, and an NCAA recruiting education workshop for parents and student-athletes. The event will also feature a special guest speaker. Last year's featured speaker was Greg Kelser, who played on Michigan State's national championship basketball team with Magic Johnson.
