TRAVERSE CITY -- A Saline man died after losing control of his pickup truck in Kalkaska.

Paul Kowalchik, 44, was the only occupant of a truck that veered off a road in Cold Springs Township Saturday morning, according to a Michigan State Police press release.

Police pronounced Kowalchik dead when they arrived on the scene. The road in the area was slippery, according to the release.

Kowalchik was driving on Starvation Lake Road when he crossed lanes and went into a ditch, according to the release.

Police believe the truck rolled over several times before coming to a halt upside down.

Kowalchik was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release. Police continue to investigate.
