At least three dead in Kalkaska County crash

KALKASKA - At least three people were killed in a two-vehicle collision this morning in Kalkaska County, authorities said.

The crash happened near the intersection of County Road 612 and Crawford Lake Road at 11:15 a.m. A Michigan State Police sergeant at the scene of the crash tells the Record-Eagle at least three people are deceased.

Seven other people were injured and taken to area hospitals, including one who was flown by helicopter. A 3 –year-old child in one of the vehicles was uninjured.

Authorities are still sorting out what happened but said passengers in both vehicles were ejected. It appears speed was a factor for both vehicles.
