Book, bake sale

Bellaire — Friends of the Bellaire Public Library will hold a Book & Bake Sale Thursday, Dec. 13.

The sale will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the library, 111 Bridge St. There will be adult and children's books suitable for gift giving plus homemade baked goods.

Spaghetti dinner

Benzonia — The Benzie Gridiron Club will sponsor a spaghetti dinner Friday, Dec. 14.

The meal will be served from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria on Homestead Road. The cost is $5 per person or $20 for families of up to six. To-go boxes will be available.

Proceeds benefit the club, which supports the Benzie Central football programs.

Holiday bake sale

Traverse City — East Building residents at The Village at Bay Ridge will hold a candy and bake sale at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the East Building, 3850 Scenic Ridge. A variety of crafts also will be available.

Drop-in for kids

Traverse City — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Grand Traverse will offer a child drop-in program on Friday, Dec. 14, for children and youth.

"Friday Night Out" will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. at the UU Congregation, 6726 Center Road. The program is free, however a $5 donation per family or volunteering to work a future event is appreciated.

Holiday lunch

Traverse City — The Grand Traverse Area Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni will host a Holiday Luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at noon at the Traverse City Golf and Country Club. All Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni are invited. Reservations are due Friday, Dec. 14; call 947-6981.

Movie matinee

Traverse City — The Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave., will show the Disney family film "Iron Will" from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Visit www.tadl.org to learn more.

NMC hosts doc

Traverse City — A free screening of the documentary "Earth Days" is the centerpiece of "Action!," an event sponsored by Northwestern Michigan College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

The doors open at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, for a pre-show Action! Fair with free admission to the Dennos Museum Center and a chance to network with local advocacy and activist groups. There also will be refreshments, music and a recycled art contest.The film will be shown at 7:30 p.m. It traces the beginnings of Earth Day and the environmental movement.

Help Blair School

Traverse City — Supporters of Blair Elementary School are encouraged to vote for the school for the Clorox "Power a Bright Future" grant.
