Northern Notes: Many hands make festival a success

This year’s East Jordan Freedom Festival brought families and friends from throughout the area to the community for fabulous fireworks, parades, live music, contests, food and fun.

The festival would not have been possible without the support of many organizations, businesses, churches and individuals and the Freedom Festival Committee would like to recognize and thank the following sponsors: EJ, Spartan Foods/Glen’s Market, East Jordan Plastics Inc., Great Lakes Fireworks, Save-A-Lot, East Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce, Charlevoix State Bank, Charlevoix Area Hospital/Jordan Valley Rehab; Mobile Marine Service, Burnette Foods Inc., Fox Motors of Charlevoix, Toby Prevo Residential Services LLC, EZ Storage, Rebec-Hosler Sweet Post 227, Andre Poineau Woodworking, The Insurance Shop, Northern Michigan Dust Control, Bingham Well Drilling, TG Plumbing & Heating, B & B Auto Service, Tad and Brenda Malpass, Northwestern Bank, East Jordan Lions Club, Charlevoix Screen Master, Subway of East Jordan, The Computer Center, Marty’s Cones & Carry Out/Sodalicious, Louis Dreapeau Concrete Designs Inc., St. Joseph Catholic Church; and many other generous donors.

“As you can see, it takes many people to make a successful festival, Without their time and support, events such as the East Jordan Freedom Festival would not be possible!” wrote Shannon Fender, president of the East Jordan Freedom Festival.

• Theresa Galante, executive director at Mt. Holiday, wrote to thank Team Elmers for all the work they’ve done at Mt. Holiday during July.

“They have been so wonderful to us. They have addressed erosion issues, added fill to help with snowmaking and generally beautified the property at the completion of their Holiday Road construction project,” Theresa wrote. “We could never had afforded to get all this work done and Elmer’s donated their time, equipment and materials. Thank you Team Elmers!”
