Area bus agencies limit service due to weather

TRAVERSE CITY — The Bay Area Transportation Authority and the Benzie Bus systems discontinued regular service today due to inclement weather.

BATA discontinued its regular service a little before 11 a.m.  It will continue a limited service until 4 p.m. so people who took the bus in can get home, said Kelly Yaroch, the operations director for the service. People hoping to take the bus home will need to call dispatch at 231-941-2324 for pickup.

The Benzie Bus also discontinued service at 11:30 a.m. for the rest of the day. People who took the bus this morning will receive a call from the agency, which will arrange to take them home, said Chad Hollenbeck, the Benzie Bus interim executive director.
