AUBURN HILLS — York Ash got a little revenge.
The Benzie Central senior took fifth place in the Division 3 individual wrestling state championships Saturday.
And in doing so, he beat the wrestler that had earlier defeated him. With fifth place on the line, Ash decisioned Parchment's Andy Caffrey 12-5 to avenge an opening-round 17-6 setback.
Ash put up a 4-2 record in the three-day tournament, finishing the season with a 50-7 mark.
Caffrey came into the tournament ranked No. 1 in the state at 119 pounds by michigangrappler.com. Ash was honorable mention, but wrestled well above that at the finals.
The loss to Caffrey sent Ash to the consolation bracket, where he started things off with a 10-0 win over Monroe Jefferson's Tyler Foland. He then defeated Mason County Central's Trevor Skinner and Allendale's Luke Jenson, who was ranked No. 6.
A loss to Caro's No. 4-ranked Shane Hermann put Ash in the fifth-place match, which he won 12-5.
