Art You Can Eat

TRAVERSE CITY — Teens and preteens are invited to make special food creations on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road.

Library staff will help participants create “Art You Can Eat” starting at 7 p.m. Teens and preteens planning to attend should call the library, 223-7700, to reserve space.

TRAVERSE CITY — Western Michigan University will hold an information session on its master of arts in counselor education program on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The session will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in room 217 at the University Center, 2200 Dendrinos Dr., off Cass Road. There is no charge. For details, call Kim Stevens, 995-1846.

Landmark Books

TRAVERSE CITY — Landmark Books’ grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 9, will be a fundraiser for FLOW, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the waters of the Great Lakes.

The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the book store, suite 116 in Building 50 at the Grand Traverse Commons. Poet Michael Delp will be signing copies of his books and a special broadside featuring his poem “The Mad Angler’s Manifesto” will be available to purchase, with proceeds going to FLOW. There also will be a silent auction of books signed by several well-known authors, with the proceeds also going to FLOW.

Cottage Coffee

TRAVERSE CITY — Bill Smith, storyteller and the best-selling author of “Chickadees at Night” and the new book “The Chickadee Spirit,” will be the guest speaker at the Tuesday, Nov. 12, program in the Cottage Coffee Series.

Smith’s program will start at 2 p.m. at Hawthorn Cottage at the Grand Traverse Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. He will have both Chickadee books at the program and will be available to sign them. The program is free and open to the public. For details, call 932-3027.
