Why not work together?
PolitiFact just published 10 finalists for their “Lie of the Year” - the most significant falsehood of 2013 (Record-Eagle, Dec. 7).
A few observations on the finalists:
Seven of the finalists involve ObamaCare, including President Obama’s claim “If you like your health care, you can keep it.” President Obama has apologized for his statement. Where are the apologies for the remaining six statements, all of which include falsehoods against ObamaCare, from the likes of Ted Cruz, Michele Bachmann, Betsy McCaughey and Ann Coulter?
It appears that when people don’t have rational arguments for opposing ObamaCare, they just make up misleading, “Pants on Fire” lies and promote them on the Internet.
Why can’t we work together in an honest debate to improve our health care system, while providing benefits to all Americans?
Our country is in danger of sinking into a modern-day version of the dark ages. An effort is being funded by the super rich to elect their people to seats in Congress or gain appointment to high key positions in our judiciary.
We see tragic changes in our laws. Corporations are now considered human. Workers’ rights and unemployment compensation have already been modified or changed by law to restrict or minimize aid. Much more is in progress including women’s rights, health care and Social Security.
The aim is to subjugate the vast majority of our citizens to conditions much like those which our ancestors fled from. They started our country and steadily improved the lot of all of our people for about 250 years. Now super-rich people are trying hard to destroy all of this effort.
It seems impossible that we’re willing to let a handful of the super rich to take over our country. Let us band together, all of us. Let’s vote in those who promote and protect the best interests of the 90 percent. We can regain control of our country if we do this. We need to know our candidates and vote.
