Harvey B. Fehrenbach

TRAVERSE CITY — Harvey Fehrenbach, of Traverse City and Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Monday Nov. 5, 2012, at his winter home in Ft. Myers, Fla.

Born in Royal Oak, Harvey spent his school years in Traverse City and was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the end of the Korean War.

After short stints in Rockford and Acme he moved his growing family to the Spider Lake area of Traverse City. With his wife Fran and son Michael, he spent six years in Texas and returned to Michigan, residing in Grand Rapids before his last few years in Traverse City and Ft. Meyers, Fla.

Harvey will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, his great sense of humor, his work ethic, the houses he built and the many hundreds of houses he drywalled.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Frances; children, Shelley (Tom) Waldo and Brian (Jen Weber) Fehrenbach, of Lake Ann, Patricia (Bill) Darrow and Renee Gines, of Grawn, Kimberly Fehrenbach-Root, of Greenville, and Michael, of Traverse City; stepchildren, Joan Ferguson, of Las Cruces, N.M., Amy (Scott Matteson) Ferguson, of Kalamazoo, James (Angela) Ferguson, of Madison, Wis., and John M. (Gabriella) Ferguson, of Louisville, Ky.; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, James (Joyce) Fehrenbach; sister-in-law, Dorothy Fehrenbach; nieces and nephews; and the mother of five of his children, Jan Riolo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alice Fehrenbach; his brother, Willard; and his nephew, David Fehrenbach.

The family invites friends and relatives to celebrate Harvey's life on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Peegeo's, 525 High Lake Road, Traverse City.
