Rico's Cafe serves Veterans Day meals
TRAVERSE CITY -- Rico's Cafe serves up its ninth annual Veterans Day Appreciation Meals on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
A complimentary buffet for veterans and present military personnel will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Breakfast buffet 8-11 a.m.; lunch buffet 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; dinner buffet 4-8 p.m.

Boy Scouts taking cookie orders
TRAVERSE CITY -- Boy Scout Troop 36 of Central United Methodist Church is taking orders for cookies that will be delivered the week of Thanksgiving.
Cookies are being sold by the dozen, packaged and ready for gift-giving or holiday entertaining. All cookies are baked by the scouts.
The cookies sell for $5 per dozen. Flavors offered are chocolate chip, peanut butter, old-fashioned oatmeal and oatmeal with dried cranberries.
Scouts from the troop have order forms they'll be circulating. You can also order via e-mail at perrys.creations@sbcglobal.net. Include your name, address, phone number and how many dozen cookies you want. Cash or checks payable to Troop 36 are accepted at the time of delivery.

Course offered for lay rescuers
TRAVERSE CITY -- Munson Regional EMS is offering a Heartsaver CPR class Tuesday. Nov 10, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Munson Regional EMS Education, Bldg. A, 3664 U.S. 31 S., the first drive north of McDonald's and across the street from Meijer.
The course is intended for all lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, day care employees, baby-sitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards and others.

Mariners Memorial Service on Tuesday
traverse city -- The community is invited to attend the 34th annual Mariners Memorial Service at noon Tuesday, in the courtyard of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy at NMC's Great Lakes Campus.
The memorial service is held to remember and honor mariners who have perished on the Great Lakes and oceans and is sponsored by the Student Propeller Club, Port 150, of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy.
This year's speakers include Cadet Daniel Heck and RADM John Tanner. The national anthem and the Mariner's Hymn will be sung by the Traverse City St. Francis high school choir under the direction of Holly Olszewski. Reverend Iakovos Olechnowicz of the Greek Orthodox Mission of Traverse City will give the invocation.

Veterans honored at memorial park
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Grand Traverse Area Veterans Coalition with the support of the Elks Lodge will honor area Veterans with a ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the Veteran's Memorial Park across from the Elks Lodge on Bay St.
Commander John Spaner from Traverse City Coast Guard will speak at 7 p.m. at the Elk's Lodge, across from the park. The Veteran supporter of the year will be announced followed by social time.
Pavlova spa event benefits Father Fred
TRAVERSE CITY -- Pavlova's 3rd annual Father Fred fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Pavlova European Day Spa and Salon located 114 S.
