Juniper Garden Club program on quilts
RAPID CITY -- The Juniper Garden Club serving the Torch Lake area will hold a meeting at noon on Tuesday at the Little Red School House on River Street. Jackie Compton will speak on "Flower Themes in Handmade Quilts." The public is welcome to attend.
Forum on gay and lesbian issues
TRAVERSE CITY -- The City of Traverse City Human Rights Commission along with the League of Women Voters - Grand Traverse Area and SPECTRUM, NMC's LGBT & A are co-sponsoring a forum on gay and lesbian life at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Northwestern Michigan College Scholars Hall, Room 109.
Panel members include Traverse City Commissioner Jim Carruthers, NMC student and President of Spectrum Mariah Baker, American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan attorney Jay Kaplan, Grand Valley University student Dianna Johnson, attorney Dean Robb and Thomas Judd Center Case Manager Brian Simerson.
The forum and panel discussions will review gay and lesbian life in Traverse City, including community life, legal issues and personal experiences.
