US troops to get candy from Michigan

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) -- Some leftover Halloween candy is expected to make its way to U.S. troops serving overseas.

The Oakland County sheriff's department plans to collect candy Monday and Tuesday before sending it along to troops. The department is asking for individually wrapped pieces of candy, but no chocolate.

The department says it's a good way to send thanks and encouragement to members of the military. Drop-off locations will be at several sheriff's substations and the department's headquarters in Pontiac.

Details are on the sheriff's Web site.
