TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse sheriff's officials are reminding people to lock their vehicles after two dozen reported larcenies from vehicles in May.
Only one of the cars broken into was locked, said Capt. Randy Fewless.
Fewless said the department received reports from throughout the county. Thefts commonly occurred overnight, and items typically stolen included electronics and money.
Theft victims are encouraged to report the incident to law enforcement so authorities may return any recovered property.
"Unless people report it, we don't have a match for the property," Fewless said.
