TRAVERSE CITY —
Livability.com has named Traverse City among its Top 10 Best Winter Vacation Destinations.
The national website listed Traverse City as number four behind Anchorage, Alaska, Spokane, Wash. and Minneapolis, Minn.
“We chose cities that offer the amenities tourists look for — good, local and independent restaurants, a thriving arts scene, nightlife, shopping and plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities,” said Livability.com spokesman John Hood.
The website said Traverse City “has all the ingredients for a great winter vacation — a quaint downtown with beautiful views of Lake Michigan, microbreweries, restaurants, shops, performance venues and lots of snow.”
“The area’s nine microbreweries, brew pubs and craft beer taprooms helped Traverse City make it onto Draft magazine’s list of newest ‘Emerging Beer Towns,’” the website noted.
Others in the top 10 included Reno, Nev., Waukesha, Wisc., Missoula, Mont., Bangor, Maine, Concord, N.H. and Casper, Wyo.
