TRAVERSE CITY — Two locals face criminal charges after authorities said they used a stolen credit card.
Kelly Arthur Rose, 39, and Ashley Hendershott, 29, both of East Bay Township, are charged with stealing or retaining a financial transaction device without consent.
A man reported that a bag containing cash, checks and credit cards was stolen from his vehicle, court records show. He later discovered large purchases were made with one of the credit cards at Kmart and Meijer.
A Grand Traverse sheriff's deputy watched video of the Meijer transaction and recognized Hendershott, records show. She was with another man who swiped the card at a self-service checkout.
The deputy received permission to search Hendershott's room from Rose, with whom she shares the room. He found items purchased with the stolen card, and Rose admitted he was the man in the surveillance footage.
