---- — TRAVERSE CITY — A Detroit man faces felony drug possession drugs after police found crack cocaine in his car.
Deandre Marcus Jones, 21, was arrested June 7 following a traffic stop on South Airport Road.
Court documents state a Michigan State Police officer stopped Jones after he failed to signal a lane change. The officer observed a "large amount of cash loosely displayed in the console area of the car" and smelled marijuana.
A vehicle search found about 30 clear sandwich baggies partially torn on the corners, which authorities said is a technique used to package and sell crack cocaine in small quantities.
"A field test conducted on the white, powdery residue located in the backseat in a partial plastic baggie tested positive for cocaine base," the documents state.
Jones was arraigned Monday in 86th District Court and was being held Tuesday in Grand Traverse County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
