— KALKASKA — Voters in Kalkaska County rejected a proposed millage to fund a new county library building by a 2-to-1 margin.
The .87-mil proposal was soundly defeated by 800 votes on Tuesday.
The millage, if approved, would have generated no more than $3.83 million for construction of a new library, and would have provided operational funding for the new facility.
It would have cost property owners with $30,000 of taxable value an additional $26 per year.
