— TRAVERSE CITY — More winter weather will arrive in northern Michigan Tuesday.
Rain and a possible freezing drizzle were expected overnight into early Tuesday, making the morning commute a slippery one. Tim Locker, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gaylord, said several inches of snow will follow and a winter storm watch is in place through Wednesday.
Several inches of lake effect snow are expected to combine with wind gusts as high as 35 miles per hour through Wednesday.
The Traverse City area has received 51 inches of snowfall this winter, putting it well behind the average of 75 inches for this time of year.
