TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a downtown bar.
Traverse City Police officers were dispatched to Dillinger’s Pub May 6 on report of a disorderly person.
A woman said she was at the bar with her fiance when Jose Luis-Manuel Cruz, 63, approached her and said “I can treat you better than he can” and “I have lots of money” and “Let’s go back to your apartment or mine,” according to a police report.
Cruz pushed the woman’s fiancee’s hand off hers, a police report states. He then touched the woman’s breast twice.
Cruz refused to leave when asked by a bartender. Officers arrested him without incident.
Cruz was arraigned in 86th District Court Friday on charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault or assault and battery and as a habitual offender. Bond was set at $5,000.
Cruz has a history of assault and domestic violence, records show.
