---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Empire Township officials delayed a public hearing about a proposal for a propane storage facility and store on M-72.
Buckley-based Stevens Propane submitted plans for the 4.5-acre property in November. Township officials asked owner Matt Stevens to furnish them with additional information about his plans, which would be posted publicly.
Members of the township planning commission promised to make the revised site plan available to the public for comment until Monday at 3 p.m., but did not post the plan until later.
“We had told people these things would be available for their inspection and they had until 3 to give us our comments if they didn’t show up,” said commission chair Dick Figura. “We didn’t think we should proceed until we had a chance to look at it.”
Stevens gave the revised plans to Zoning Administrator Gene Perfect about a week ago, Perfect said, but Figura did not get a copy of them until Monday afternoon.
The hearing will now take place Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. in Empire Township Hall. The proposal will be available in the Township Hall, the Glen Lake Library and online.
