Man allegedly hits motorcyclist

BELLAIRE — A Mancelona man faces a pair of felony charges after deputies said he drunkenly crashed into a motorcycle, then drove away.

Antrim County prosecutors this week charged Ty J. Oetting, 38, with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death.

Authorities contend that Oetting last week turned into the path of a woman’s motorcycle along Mancelona Road, then crashed into her. She suffered a leg injury as result of the crash, court records show.

Witnesses told authorities that Oetting drove away, but before he did, the woman’s husband wrote down the vehicle description and license plate number.

A conservation officer visited Oetting’s home and said he saw him pull into the driveway shortly after the crash. There, the conservation officer spoke with Oetting, who denied any involvement.
