WELLSTON — An Irons teen is suspected of slaying a Wellston man during an apparent robbery attempt.
Dennis Guenthardt, 64, was found dead in his residence on Tuesday from an apparent gunshot.
Michigan State Police Lt. David Street said the suspect, 19, faces murder charges but had yet to be arraigned as of Wednesday afternoon. He said there could be other arrests but not on Wednesday.
"Other people were possibly involved," he said.
Guenthardt was discovered after his friends could not contact him for more than a day. Street said the shooting happened before Tuesday at 4 p.m., but he could not give a more precise time.
He said the motive appears to be robbery, but authorities were still determining what, if anything, was stolen from Guenthardt's residence.
"I don't necessarily know the answer to that because he lived alone," he said.
The suspect was being held in Manistee County Jail on Wednesday.
