TRAVERSE CITY — Voters in the Mancelona district Tuesday approved a $1.93 million bond for public schools to receive new buses, technology and building improvements.
The bond will levy .3 mills in 2013. Taxpayers will not pay more mills than they did in 2012 because the existing 3.85 debt millage will decrease by .3 mills.
Unofficial results from the Kalkaska County Clerk's Office show 346 people voted in favor of the bond, and 161 voted against it.
School officials hope to spend money on 13 buses throughout the next 9 years. The funding will also cover classroom projectors and sound systems, computer lab upgrades and other technology tools.
