---- — EMPIRE — Authorities say an elderly man was involved in two separate traffic crashes on Benzonia Trail.

The Glen Arbor resident, 85, was transported to Munson Medical Center on Tuesday after Leelanau County sheriff’s deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Benzonia Trail near Glenmere Road in Empire Township.

The investigation showed the driver first struck a parked car in a private driveway in the 7800 block of Glen Lake Road. He left the driveway onto Glenmere Road and was turning onto Benzonia Trail when his vehicle left the road and struck another parked vehicle.

Leelanau Undersheriff Steve Morgan said no charges were being filed, but the driver could still be taken off the road.

“We may look to re-examine (a driving test) through the secretary of state,” he said.
