Flash flood warning issued

TRAVERSE CITY - A flash flood warning is in place for four northern Michigan counties until 9:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service said two additional inches of rain are possible between now and 5:30 p.m. in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau and northern Benzie counties due to a line of heavy thunderstorms passing through the area.

The warning notes that excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways and underpasses. Additionally, country roads and farmlands are subject to flooding.
